Apparently, some of our elected officials in Congress are trying to put through a new economic stimulus plan for the consumers.
The problem right now is that is appears there is opposition not only in Congress but also in the Oval Office as well.
The idea behind the stimulus package is to put more money into the pockets of everyday Americans in order to "stimulate" them to put more into the economy.
What I don't understand is how Congress can be so quick to oppose a package like this so recently after just handing over billions of dollars to our country's financial institutions.
This seems to me like our leaders being more concerned with the financial well-being of big business and of corporate CEOs that are earning millions of dollars a year than they are concerned with that of us little guys.
While honestly, I am not 100% certain that an economic stimulus package like the one they may or may not propose will help stimulate the economy, I am a little irritated that the government has no problems giving OUR money to these big corporations (and could possibly give more of OUR money to the three biggest auto makers in the country) to bail them out of a situation that they (honestly) got themselves into. What irritates me is that they would rather do this than give OUR money back to US?
It makes no sense that they would rather give our money to the mega corporations than they would to the people that got them elected in the first place....oh wait, I think I just answered my own question. They DID help out the people that got them elected!
THAT is why they gave that money to the banking institutions so quickly. Because they owed them that money for getting their butts into Congress. I won't get into that right now, that is a topic for an entirely different post.
Again, I'm not sure if the economic stimulus package will help the current financial situation but it obviously could not make it any worse.
