More Thoughts About Term Limits

What do you think about 4 terms as a term limit for both Senators and Congressmen?

Instead of term limits for Senators and Congressmen what about letting the people of their respective states deciding how much they will get paid based on their performance? Maybe then, these idiots will figure out who they are working for.

How about setting it up like a jury pool and have it rotate in and out every few years? Would that even ever work? Probably not. Too many logistical problems with that idea I think.

Whatever the case, we need to keep in mind that any changes to anything related to term limits will take a Constitutional amendment to change, which would need a 2/3 majority in Congress to even make it to a vote of the people. I really can't see 2/3 of Congress agreeing on anything though.

Any thoughts?

  1. I had thought that 3 term in the Senate and 9 or 10 in the House would work. That would put people in for about 18 years if they continue to get re-elected and would allow then to gain experience without spending their entire lives in Congress.

  2. I can agree with 3 terms for the Senate but I think 9-10 in the House is a bit much.

I think aside from the term limits that need to be imposed, we really need to work with campaign reform. I really think we should work toward getting more support for third parties.
