Top 3 Films: Morgan Freeman

Today is Morgan's 73rd birthday. Happy Birthday Morgan!!!

So here is a list of what I think are his 3 best films, chronologically speaking:

Unforgiven (1992)

In this western directed by Clint Eastwood, Freeman plays Ned Logan, the reluctant partner of Eastwood's William Munny.

This is one of those few films that wins a lot of awards that actually deserve them IMHO.

It won the Oscar for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Editor and Best Supporting Actor (Gene Hackman). Eastwood himself received a nomination for Best Actor for this film.

The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

This movie was based off of a Stephen King novella titled Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption. Really excellent film.

Freeman plays the character "Red" who befriends the main character Andy played by Tim Robbins.

This film was nominated for several awards but for some reason didn't win any of them. Not sure why.

Batman Begins (2005)

Duh! Of course my all-time favorite film is going to show up on his list because he is in this film.

He plays Lucius Fox. If you have ever read any Batman comics yourself and actually know who Lucius Fox is, I think Morgan did an amazing job with this character. I can't think of anybody else that I would have chosen to play this character. In fact, if I were doing a Top 4 films The Dark Knight would show up on it because his portrayal of Fox in this film was really cool too.
