Top 3 Films: Laurence Fisburne and Arnold Schwarzenegger

Happy 49th Laurence!

Cadence (1990)

Laurence stars alongside Charlie Sheen and Martin Sheen in this movie which is directed by Martin Sheen about an American soldier that is placed in a military jail in which he is the only white and joins forces with them against their racist warden.

Boyz N the Hood (1991)

In this film, directed by John Singleton, Fishburne stars alongside Cuba Gooding Jr and Ice Cube. This movie, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director, is about life in South Central Los Angeles.

The Matrix (1999)

In this enormously popular science fiction film, Fishburne plays the underground resistance leader Morpheus alongside Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving, and Joe Pantoliano.

This film won Academy Awards for Best Film Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing, and Best Visual Effects.

Happy 63rd Arnold!

Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)

In this James Cameron directed sequel to the original Terminator, which was released in 1984, Arnold reprises his role as the Terminator.

In this one, however, instead of trying to kill the main character, he spends the movie trying to protect the main character from another Terminator.

This film also stars Linda Hamilton, who reprises her role as Sarah Connor from the original film, Edward Furlong, and Robert Patrick, as the new Terminator.

Last Action Hero (1993)

In this film, which is directed by John McTiernan (who has also directed Predator, Die Hard, The Hunt for Red October, Die Hard With a Vengeance, and The 13th Warrior), Arnold plays Jack Slater, an L.A. police detective.

I liked this film for two reasons. One, the character that Arnold plays is almost a spoof of other action movie characters. And two, the soundtrack is pretty amazing. It includes artists such as AC/DC, Alice in Chains, Megadeth, Anthrax, Tesla, and Def Leppard.

True Lies (1994)

James Cameron directed this film in which Arnold plays an agent in a super secret counter-terrorist government agency that has to pose as a regular guy for his family.

It also stars Jamie Lee Curtis as his wife, Tom Arnold as his partner, Tia Carrera, Bill Paxton and Charlton Heston.
