Politics 101: Labor Commissioner

The Labor Commissioner of the State of Oklahoma is the head of the Oklahoma Department of Labor.

Labor Commissioner supervises the state laws related to labor and workplace safety.

It is his or her duty to promote the welfare of workers and to improve the working conditions of workers.

The candidates for Labor Commission in 2010 are:

Lloyd Fields (D) - he is the incumbent.
According to his website, his safety program has saved Oklahoma's employers over $21 million in potential OSHA fines.
Mark Costello (R) - Mark is the President of USA Digital Communications, a telecommunications company that he founded in 1997.
Jason Reese (R) - Jason gradudates from the University of Oklahoma Law School and is a former staff attorney for the State Legislature working as part of the Workers Compensation Task Force.
