Top 3 Films: Paul Reubens

Happy 58th Pee Wee!

Mystery Men (1999)

This comic book film, which actually is based on a comic book put out by Dark Horse Comics called Flaming Carrot Comics. It is about a group of super-heroes with less than impressive superpowers.

In this one Reubens stars as The Spleen, a "hero" with super-powered flatulence.

It also stars Ben Stiller, William H. Macy, Hank Azaria, Janeane Garofalo, Geoffrey Rush, Greg Kinnear and Tom Waits.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992)

This is the movie that started it all! This is NOT the TV series. The movie is way funnier than the TV series. Although, that is actually second hand knowledge because I've never actually watched the television series.

Reubens plays Amily, the assistant to the head vampire, who is played by Rutger Hauer.

This film was mostly just a vehicle for Luke Perry, who was popular at the time because of Beverly Hills 90210, but it was still a decent movie.

It also starred Kristy Swason as Buffy, Donald Sutherland, Hilary Swank, David Arquette, Stephen Root, Thomas Jane and a small role played by Ben Affleck.

Pee-Wees Big Adventure (1985)

Can't have a Paul Reubens film list without mentioning the Pee Wee Herman movie. C'mon!!

It was filmed by Tim Burton (which I actually did not know until I starting writing this article) and Reubens played the main character, obviously.
