According to an article I recently read on NPR's website, the people of Wisconsin have begun a new front in the fight against the government over collective bargaining. Recalling State Senators.
In Wisconsin, Efforts to Recall Senators Gain Steam
So far, activists have filed petitions to get 3 State Senators recalled this summer and apparently there are more expected to be filed before its all through.
Personally, I applaud their efforts. No matter what I think about the new law passed in Wisconsin, and I'm not going to bother getting into that here, I think this is democracy at its best. People getting together peacefully and filing a grievance against the government for what they believe in.
These are the kind of people that are taking that extra step to make sure their voice is heard in Wisconsin. They don't agree with what their elected officials are doing so they want to fire them. I'm all for that. I'm all for firing a few jerk-off senators.
Again, I applaud their efforts and I hope their voice is heard. And I also hope they serve as an example for the rest of the country to stop bitching about everything that is wrong with their local politics and actually DO something about it!
