Last Sunday I posted this:
House to Vote on Abortion Funding Ban!
Yesterday, the House voted on HR-3, otherwise known as the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act.
It passed 251-175. If you are interested in knowing specifics, all 235 Republicans voted for it (no big surprise there) and only 16 Democrats voted for it (including Oklahoma's own Dan Boren).
The chief author of the bill was Congressman Chris Smith, Republican from New Jersey.
You can read more about the passage of this bill here at LifeNews.com:
House Passes Complete Ban on Taxpayer Funding of Abortions
A handful of Senators have introduced a similar bill to try and apply it to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, which currently allows taxpayer-funded abortions via health plans that are administered by the federal government.
I don't really see the bill passing through the Senate. Not in this term anyway. But at least getting it on the books is a way of showing that this particular hot button political issues is not going to go away any time soon.
