Hello readers!
Another Monday is upon us. And with a new week brings us another edition of The Otter Limits. What do you think of the switch from Friday to Monday on these things?
I don’t have anything interesting to talk about in this week’s intro thingy so on to the good stuff….
Here are the new releases that hit last week that caught my ear. It was a fairly larger week for good stuff.
Chuck Ragan - Love and Lore
Sister Thieves - Crawl
Amyl and the Sniffers - Cartoon Darkness
Pixies - The Night the Zombies Came
Alvilda - C’est Deja L’heure
Kynsy - Utopia
Onsloow - Full Speed Anywhere Else
Soccer Mommy - Evergreen
Last week’s comic book pull list was a little bit larger than it has been in a while. Mostly because of the addition of Detective Comics, Nightwing and Superman back to my pull list. These 3 issues were the beginning of new story arcs (and a new writer on Detective) so I thought I’d give them a look. Plus a new Wonder Woman in the Absolute universe started up.
X-Men #6
Nightwing #119
Detective Comics #1090
Absolute Wonder Woman #1
The Tin Can Society #2
Superman #19
Also in comic book reading, I read Harley Quinn Vol. 1: No Good Deed by Stephanie Phillips and Catwoman Vol. 1: Dangerous Liaisons by Tini Howard. Additionally, as I mentioned in last week’s issue, I’ve also started a large comic book undertaking. I started a re-read of the Batman storyline No Man’s Land. I haven’t read this story since it came out and if I’m being honest, I don’t think I ever finished it back then. It is so massive. It went on for a year. Anyway, I’ve started with Volume 1. I’ll keep you up to date on my progress here.
I’m also still working on the Heir to the Empire audiobook. It is a very slow progress on that one. I’m not sure if it is because I’m just not feeling it or I’m not in the mood for non-comic book reading or what.
Venom: The Last Dance The wife and I went out on Friday and saw this. I liked it. She also liked it. I liked it more than the 2nd one but not as well as the 1st one. The wife has never seen the other 2 which I found odd. Odd that she would agree to go see it with me. Apparently she did not know that there were 2 others. Anyway. It was good.
Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths I watched this on HBO Max on Saturday. There are 3 parts to it (hence the trilogy in the movie poster). I liked it okay. I don’t really remember how close it is to the source material because I haven’t read that story in many many years. I asked my friend Dave about it because I know that he knows that story pretty well. He told me that it follows the basic plot but deviates a lot with the details. I might have to re-read that story at some point.
Other than that, I watched the newest episode of The Penguin last night. If you haven’t caught this show yet you really should. There are only 2 episodes left in the miniseries.
Last week on Rebel Rock Radio we wrapped up our Rebels Retrospective series and played tunes from Pulpit Red, Fast Blood, and Zombina & the Skeletones.
Also in Rebel Rock Radio news, I started another new series. This one is a patron-exclusive called Steve’s Pull List where I talk about my weekly pull list. That is, what comic books were on my pull list for the given week. I am really going to try and remember to do this every week. If you are not already a Rebel Rock Radio patron, it is only $2 a month and you get all the bonus content, the early access content, a sticker swag pack and you get a shout out on our live streams. Anyway, here is the first “issue.”
The guys over at Punk Lotto Pod dropped a new Halloween themed episode last week. On it, they covered the Misfits album Earth AD / Wolfs Blood.
This week’s track come from the new Linda Lindas album No Obligation which came out earlier this month.
That’s it for this week. Have a great week and remember to BE MORE KIND!
